About Us


Yellowhead Community Services is (YCS) is dedicated to helping improve the lives of those we serve. Our trained staff provide integrated supports and services to individuals of all ages through several different community locations, including our offices and program centres in Clearwater, Barriere, Lillooet and Ashcroft.

Yellowhead Community Services Society (YCS) was incorporated in 1989 (under the former name of Wells Grey Community Resources Society) in response to a recognized need for an umbrella organization to develop and administer a number of social/health services for the North Thompson Valley of British Columbia. Early programming was designed to support vulnerable adults and youth. Quickly we realised that there was a need to grow these services across the wide spectrum of community. Time and continued partnering with funders has allowed us provide a ‘cradle to grave’ holistic service for residents in our communities. YCS has long recognised the benefit of client centered care with a focus on wrap around, broad focussed services.

YCS is a non-profit, registered charity and one of the largest employers in the North Thompson Valley. We strive to provide a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for our staff, stakeholders and clients accessing our services. As an agency we believe that embracing cultural diversity strengthens us and improves the quality of services that we provide. All of our agency policies and procedures consistently reflect our commitment to respecting and honoring cultural differences and richness of diversity in the communities we serve.

We make every effort to keep programming free, or subsidized. Our two Chief Operating Officers, Nikki Vincent and Susanne Butcher, both have a long employment history with YCS and are passionate about delivering community focussed programs. Each COO is responsible for a variety of programs and shares general agency administrative duties.

Yellowhead Community Services is proud to be Accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Becoming accredited means our programs and services have been evaluated by an objective third party and have demonstrated conformance to internationally accepted standards. Accreditation allows us to ensure that we are achieving the best possible outcomes for the people accessing our services and drives us to strive for continuous quality improvement.

Our volunteer Board of Directors, meet monthly and all reside in BC. They are continually engaging with other community partners to offer ways of increasing healthy choices and strengthen family and community ties, thereby enhancing a positive rural lifestyle. Our Board of Directors is;

Annual General meetings usually take place on the fourth Thursday of June. We encourage you to read our passed AGM reports and review our financial statements here. This year we said a very ‘fond farewell’ to long serving board member Lloyd Strickland. We are thankful for his many years of generous service.
