Home Share Provider

Yellowhead Community Services (YCS) is looking for an individual or couple willing to become Home Share Providers for a semi-independent older woman with diverse abilities in the Clearwater area. An ideal situation for this individual would be a home with no children and dogs. The home layout preferred would be an in-law suite or a separate bed/bath/sitting room area.

As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, accessing community resources and services. You will encourage integration and inclusion within the home and the community. You will be responsible for the safety, support, and wellbeing of the individual and ensuring they are accessing appropriate medical and dental care. Also, you will assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family and support networks. This is a 24/7 position; however, additional supports may be provided.

Basic Requirements:

  • Relevant training and/or previous experience working with individuals with diverse abilities.
  • First aid and CPR certificate
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Criminal record check

Be willing to obtain/complete the following:

  • A satisfactory home-study
  • Three letters of reference
  • Physician’s letter of good health
  • A signed declaration of confidentiality
  • A signed release of information
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate

Community Support Worker

Yellowhead Community Services Society, an integrated health/social service agency with offices located in Clearwater and Barriere, BC, is seeking skilled, knowledgeable and experienced individuals to provide community support to adults with developmental disabilities in the community of Clearwater.  Shifts will be predominantly day shifts, but will also include evenings and weekends. The following positions are available:

  1. Community Support Worker       21hrs/week –Clearwater
  2. Community Support Worker       Casual/on-call – Clearwater/Barriere

Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist individuals to engage in social and recreational opportunities in the community.
  •  Provide outreach support to individuals living independently in the community by assisting with meal preparation, home maintenance and support attending appointments. This may also include assistance with personal care and hygiene.
  • Employment support through Employer engagement, job coaching and supervision.
  • Enhancing the development of life skills through modeling and person-centered planning.
  • Organizing and lead group activities and planning special events with input from individuals participating in services.

Degree/diploma in relevant field is preferred, however, individuals with related experience and/or a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply and will be considered.  Any offers of employment will be subject to a clean criminal record check. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. Current first aid would be an asset.

Early Childhood Educator and Early Childhood Educator Assistants

YCS is looking for energetic and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educators and Assistants to join our team. We currently have four childcare programs in Clearwater and one in Barriere. 

The position requires flexibility as hours vary depending on the number of children enrolled in the programs. Training can be provided should the successful candidate have experience with children and express an interest in committing to a lasting relationship with YCS.

Qualifications:  ECE Certification/ECE Assistant Certification, current First Aid

The successful candidate will be subject to a Criminal Record Check
