Youth Group Facilitator - Clearwater, BC

Yellowhead Community Services Society, an integrated health/social service agency with offices located in Clearwater and Barriere, BC, is seeking skilled, knowledgeable and experienced individual to co-facilitate a recreational drop in program for youth aged 12-18 yrs based out of the Dutch Lake Community Center in Clearwater.  This is a term position starting October 20th 2017 until June 1st , 2018. Hours of work will be Friday evenings from 6:30-10:30pm and may include additional hours for program preparation. Statutory holidays are excluded as the program will be closed on these days. A competitive wage will be offered.

The following position is available:

  •       Youth Group Facilitator 4 -6 hrs per week.

Applicants must be 19 years of age or older. Degree/diploma in relevant field is preferred, however, individuals with related experience and/or a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply and will be considered.  Any offers of employment will be subject to a clean criminal record check. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. Current first aid would be an asset.

Success By 6 / Early Years-/Arts & Culture Coordinator - Clearwater, BC

Yellowhead Community Services Society, an integrated health/social service agency with offices located in Clearwater and Barriere, BC is seeking a skilled, knowledgeable and experienced individual for a combined position of Success by 6/Early Years Coordinator, and Arts and Culture Coordinator for Clearwater and area.

The Success By 6/Early Years Coordinator brings together partners from all sectors - provincial and municipal government, community and Aboriginal services, health, education, child care, recreation, and more - to work together to create child and family friendly communities. The Coordinator supports its community tables in the development and implementation of Success by 6 and Early Year’s activities; including community research, strategic planning, raising public awareness, fundraising, and evaluation. The Coordinator ensures families with young children have access to information, resources, and supports. Also ensures quality programming is offered that supports children’s development through play, nutrition, physical activity, and connection to culture.

Some job tasks are:

  • • Coordinate and/or facilitate playgroups for children and their caregivers (e.g. Playgroup) • Provide information, education and referrals to services for families in the community
  • • Facilitates community table meetings to develop strategic plans and promote collaboration and partnerships between community groups to benefit families and children in the community.
  • • Ensure implementation of Success by 6 and Early Years Centre Strategic Plans

The Arts and Culture Coordinator liaises with community art & culture societies/groups, with the purpose being to strengthen and develop these groups and their initiatives. This will include helping to coordinate concerts, promoting arts and culture in Clearwater, planning, developing, organizing and implementing a variety of art and culture programs and special events to meet the needs of children, youth, teens, adults, families, senior citizens, and special user groups on a year round basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • • Relevant work experience is preferred, however individuals with related experience and/or willingness to learn are encourage to apply and will be considered
  • • Criminal Records check and driver’s license with access to a vehicle
  • • Level 1 First Aid would be an asset
  • • Be flexible around hours of work
  • • Be a self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills
  • • Demonstrated experience working with others: collaborations and partnerships.
  • • Excellent organizational skills with strong oral and written communication skills including experience in report writing;
  • • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, set and meet deadlines, and problem solve.

  1. Part-Time Community Support Worker-22hrs/week Sunday – Thursday Clearwater
  2. Casual Community Support Worker – Clearwater & Barriere

HOME SHARE PROVIDER

Clearwater/Barriere, BC - January 4, 2016

Yellowhead Community Services is looking for an individual or couple willing to become Home Share Providers for a semi-independent woman with a developmental disability in the Clearwater area. As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, personal care, accessing community resources and services. Other responsibilities include; the safety and well-being of the individual and ensuring she accesses appropriate medical and dental care. You will also assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family and support network and encourage integration and inclusion within the home and community.  This is a 24/7 position, however additional supports will be provided.

Basic Requirements

  • Relevant training and/or previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities including FASD.
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Criminal record check

Be willing to obtain/complete the following:

  • A satisfactory home study
  • Three letters of reference
  • Physician’s letter of good health
  • Signed declaration of confidentiality
  • Signed release of information
