Home Share Provider - Clearwater, BC

Do you want to make a difference in the life of a young adult with diverse abilities?

Yellowhead Community Services (YCS) is looking for an individual or couple willing to become Home Share Providers for a semi-independent man (age range 19-25) with diverse abilities and wellness barriers in the Clearwater area. An ideal situation for this individual would be a home with an in-law suite, bed/bath/sitting room area, or separate smaller residence on a property.

As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, accessing community resources and services. You will encourage integration and inclusion within the home and the community. You will be responsible for the safety, support, and wellbeing of the individual and ensuring they are accessing appropriate medical and dental care. Also, you will assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family and support networks. This is a 24/7 position; however, additional supports will be provided.

Basic Requirements:

  • Relevant training and/or previous experience working with individuals with diverse abilities, including FASD.
  • First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Criminal record check

Be willing to obtain/complete the following:

  • Physician’s letter of good health
  • Three letters of reference
  • A satisfactory home-study
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certificate
  • A signed declaration of confidentiality
  • A signed release of information

Mental Health/Substance Use/Anti-Violance Clinician

Clearwater & Barriere - Regular Part-Time

Position Summary

This is a blended position of a mental health/substance use (MHSU) clinician and anti-violence counsellor through the Stopping the Violence program as part of our integrated counselling team.

MHSU clinician/counsellor

Providing services primarily with adult and senior population providing intake, brief interventions, assessments, counselling, integrated treatment planning and case management

Responsibilities will include carrying a caseload delivering services to those with a diagnosis of major mood disorders, personality disorders, and concurrent disorders (medical conditions, trauma, addictions and other disorders). Position will require competencies in collaboration with other agencies, working with physicians, psychiatrists and with local First Nation Band service team. Position may also include providing services to youth with problem substance abuse issues.

Stopping the Violence Counsellor

Providing services to adult women who are in domestic abusive situations and/or who have been in abusive relationships. Conducting initial assessments and co-creating safety plans. Provide psycho-education and counselling to work through effects of violence. Coordinating community resources and services to support women i.e. Victim Services, Shelters etc. Collaborating with community services providers including participating in inter- professional service provider groups and provide appropriate referrals to other services providers.


Masters Degree from an accredited educational institution in related field. Individuals with undergrad degree in nursing and social work may be considered with combined qualifications and experience. Two (2) years’ recent clinical experience related to mental health, alcohol and drug treatment with experience working with women directly affected by domestic violence is an asset.  Current valid class 5 BC Driver’s License& satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Early Childhood Educator - Eagle's Nest

Clearwater - Full-time - 35 hours per week

Eagle’s Nest is located on the territory of Simpcw First Nation, a division of the Secwepemc Nation, in a small rural town called Clearwater. We honour all First Nations, Inuit and Metis children and families. Our holistic approach focuses on maintaining balance; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We provide an environment where children take pride in their cultural identity.

The Nest is licensed through BC Interior Health to provide care to eight children under school age. Eagles Nest is a setting where we view the life and education of children in a holistic way. In order to bring meaningful content to our program we honor and respect cultural traditions and values and welcome the participation of family and Elders.

We want our children to feel safe, happy and valued so they can explore, interact, watch others and grow to reach their full potential. Our program provides children with time, space, opportunity, attention and encouragement to develop their curiosity and skills. Our job is to support their learning, model positive behaviour, promote self-esteem and keep our little ones safe while providing an environment that is truly immersed in Indigenous culture. At the Nest we provide freshly cooked hot meals and all snacks for children and staff.

Skills and abilities

Wages and Benefits
Salary: $17.73 to $24.64 per hour (dependaning on experience) + Wage Enhancement, benefits and RRSP’s

Manager and ECE Facilitator - Stepping Stones Daycare

Ashcroft - Full-time 35 hours per week

Stepping Stones:

Stepping Stones Daycare is a brand new facility looking for an experienced, or recently qualified dynamic ECE who has the skills, knowledge and personality required to be manager. The program is licensed as multi-age but with the right leadership we hope to grow a bigger daycare and with infant and toddler spaces. Ashcroft is a thriving and growing rural community with a warm, long summer and brief cool winter season. The city of Kamloops is only 1 hour away.

The successful candidate:

  • Be familiar with the expectations and requirements of Community Care Licensing
  • Support each child’s holistic development using the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Be aware of and work within the ECEBC Code of Ethics
  • Participate in professional development
  • Will be able to work flexible hours
